Plovdiv Amphitheatre - back in the roman days, it was one of the centres of the easter Roman Empire - so close to Istanbul (or Constantinople)
Plovdiv Guesthouse - what a beautiful spot! If you ever get to Bulgaria and fancy a good nights sleep, here you go!
Minny our tourguide in Plovdiv - smoking cigarettes and ranting about everyone but the Bulgarians!
Bring it on - the self-portraits!
Plovdiv - beautiful historical old roman town - and McDonald´s is there...they seem to be obsessed with it - wherever we go!
Selfportrait...you will be laughing, but I was not the one to start it on this trip!

BULGARIA
Again, I was impressed by another country that I have not seen before. When we arrived in Sofia our jaws dropped. This was some hotel! Proper russian-eastern architecture, all shiny and must have been quite posh during its time! After everybody got into their rooms we met for drinks and dinner on the 19th floor-panorama restaurant. The food was really good, even if it took a bit longer. Afterwards we found the hotspot of nightlife in Sofia. Crashed a private student-anniversary party, danced the conga and went to the Jim Bean Club to see some proper bulgarian dancers....
The next day was full of walking tours. We met some very passionate Bulgarians who introduced their history to us. Bobby in Sofia and Minny, the mini-man of Plovdiv. He was very much in love with his beautiful city and just would not stop talking. Every little aspect of history had to be discussed.....well.....the beer afterwards tasted very good though.
And it was a good way to have a quick overview, bearing in mind that we only spent a couple of hours there. I really enjoyed Bulgaria and definately want to go again. But the Muezzin is waiting now.....Istanbul...!!!!
Oh and PS: I am trying to work on my speeches. I started to play an intro song through the microphone every time we get to a new place....I lost them at My Way. They just want Top Gun Soundtrack songs and things like that. Damn it! Yet another challenge for me to overcome! What a hard job!
