Day 20 – Zanjan to Tehran!
Early start and visit of another Mosque – Soltanieh Dome. 750 years old and home to the Mongul conquerors of Azerbaijan. It was quite impressive, especially the views from the upper balconies. The whole Mosque is decorated with the names of Mohammed and the first Iman. And now also with OzBus16. After a few more headshots we headed on towards Tehran. This time the guides were overly cautios with us having enough toilet breaks. Bless them.
We arrived in Tehran in time to have lunch in one of the best restaurants of the whole city – or thats what it said on the „certificate“ that hung on the door outside of it.
We headed straight to the Jewelery Museum from there. All the Royal Crown Jewels were displayed and they are absolutely amazing. The biggest one is the biggest pink Diamond in the World, they stole it from India.
The hotel made everyone happy - 4****! With amazing views over the Alborz mountains. Hearts were beating faster at the thought of going for a quick ski there...headscarfes or not, supposedly even women are allowed to go...but there was not much snow anyways.
We went for a walk to another park and were all of a sudden involved into this massive volleyball practice-session. Again, surrounded by even more spectators. It was great fun and there were even girls playing. So some things are nearly normal here after all. A trip to the foothills of the mountains to eat at a fancy place at Darband did not work out for all of us. The usual suspects being Peter, Andy, Tony and myself ended up at the Iranian version of McDonalds after getting lost again...(same as Prague). We went to a Shisha place, were lovers go to or that what it seems and then took the funniest taxidrive back to the hotel - full-on karaokesinging: Hotel California, Lionel Richie, Céline Dion and all the other superhits! The taxidriver was loving it (we think)!
