Celebrating the Germany - England Match in Melaka

Highlight in Malaysia was probably the big football match. I was told before that if Germany wins, I would have to go home, and if we loose, I would probably have to go home as well, so I felt pretty screwed either way. As it turns out, I am still here and everybody was pretty quiet and stopped talking about the football for a while afterwards.

To talk about what we have seen in Malaysia, we stopped in Georgetown on Penang Island on our first day. It is a World Heritage listed town with lots of Colonial architecture, or that´s what it says in the Lonely Planet. I did not see very much great colonial Architecure. The sea was dirty, thats what it also said, so that one description was correct. We had a good stroll around anyways, saw Chinatown that was surprisingly empty, maybe because it was a weekend and a chinese temple full of burning incense smoke.

Next morning we headed off towards Kuala Lumpur (or KL) and stopped there for a couple of hours for some yummi Sushi in the Twin Towers Shopping Centre and a little browse around – and of course another foto session with lots of headshots!

Next and last stop before Indonesia, Melaka. That´s where all the pirates are, and I can understand, because it really was a nice place. Lots of different influences from the Chinese and Portuguese in terms of architecture, food and language, and this was of course where we wathced the big football match (this is gonna be the last time I mention it, promise!).

Malaysia was all a bit rushed, but everyone was still looking forward to Indonesia, what promised to be a completely different experience again!
